I remember meeting a girl almost
a year back, perusing her graduation in Commerce, when she told me that
she wasn't that academically sound nor her family had the fortune to make her
study in a reputed college guaranteeing job placements after the completion of
her degree course.
After meeting her, my mind was
flocked with numerous questions …. Does she regret being born in a family that
is not quite able to financially support her? What would she do after her college? Will she
join a job or her parents will get her married? Where would she stand 10 years
down the line? Does she even dream? Doesn't she tired bowing down every time to
her parents wish or the circumstances created for such classes of people in the
society?
I found her as human as any other
person I’d normally meet. So its high time for us to ask where the problem
exactly lies??
Government since 6 decades has
been increasingly emphasizing in its plan and policies, the issue of woman
empowerment through a cliched tool named “education”.
Of course over here the intent is
not to go against the lack of good education system. But the issue over here is
that its high time we extend our vision to track down the real causes behind
the “women inequality” in our society. The main root cause is the attitude of
the society. The situations today are not less, give and take a few changes.
Lets get the real image; the
actual image of real India, where educated women in many house holds are denied
permission to go for a job. When such day can be seen that our society allow
women to shoulder man in each and every profession equally?
In the West, women make their own
career choices; go along head to head with their male counterparts and even
more successful. Even today women have to face a lot of resistance from the
society. It will definitely take some more time before the new age ideas get
wholly accepted. But for the time being, the focus should be on women
empowerment not just through education but encouraging a positive attitude
shift in society towards women and fostering traits of confidence and intuitiveness in females.
This can be done through
orientation and grooming programs, which could be held at campuses of such
colleges.
With the contribution of all of
us (forming a part of society) shall give positive stimuli to women’s
capabilities by aiding them morally, financially & of course to take a
stand with grace & a spark creates wonders….!!!
This is a contribution of my best
buddy Drashti Parekh and I appreciate her efforts…
